WHAT CAN’T YOU TRAVEL WITHOUT AND WHY?
I always make sure to travel with my AirPods. I can’t go anywhere without them. I also think it’s important to throw a sportscoat in your bag. You can dress up any outfit in a pinch and it really just pulls everything together. 

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TRAVEL DESTINATION AND WHY?
I love to travel. It’s always been my source of inspiration. I love returning to Japan whenever I can. They have the best American vintage shopping. I also really enjoy Maine in the summer. It’s the perfect escape for a week offline with my wife. 

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN NYC?
My family and I would take a walk through Madison Square Park, which will turn into a meander through the city, stopping at shops along the way. We’d end up at Hillstone for an early dinner before making our way back home. New York is all about discovery to me. 

IF YOU COULD CHOOSE ONE PERSON TO SHOW YOU THEIR NEW YORK CITY, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
Basquiat and Fran Lebowitz. Two legendary New Yorkers whose lens on life would be fascinating to experience.

WHAT OR WHO HAS INSPIRED YOU RECENTLY AND WHY?
I really am constantly inspired by my team at Todd Snyder. They are some of the most talented and interesting people I know and always push me to think differently. I also am inspired by some of my friends doing incredible work in their fields, like Chef Austin Johnson of One White Street or artists Richard Haines and Ryan McMenamy. 

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE NYC RESTAURANTS? WHAT DO YOU ORDER THERE?
It’s impossible to narrow it down! I’m lucky enough to call some of the best chefs in NYC my friends. My tried and true favorites are Estela, Loring Place, Le Rock, and One White Street. Lately, Le Rock’s ‘Bison Au Poivre” continues to be on my mind.

WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO SPOT IN NYC FOR DRINKS?
I love unwinding at Lobby Bar in the Hotel Chelsea. Not only is it inside one of the city’s greatest treasures, they also make the perfect martini. 

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE NYC BRUNCH SPOTS; WHAT DO YOU ORDER WHEN YOU GO?
Mark’s Off Madison is a great spot near our Madison Flagship store. I love popping in there for any meal, but brunch has some special items. They have classic bagel platters, Mark’s famous latkes, or if you’re in a more savory mood, his famous salads. 

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR ART FIX IN NYC? DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE ARTIST?
My mother is an artist and art teacher, which taught me so much at a young age. My favorite artists are Brâncuși and Giacometti. To keep my inspiration going, I make sure to stroll through Chelsea and attend events like Greenpoint Open Studios.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR UNDER-THE-RADAR MUST-DO RECOMMENDATIONS FOR NYC VISITORS?
I love telling people to take a day and pick a neighborhood or two, from the food and drink, shopping, art, people-watching… That’s the best part of exploring the city. Aside from that, I continue to find inspiration at the Judd Foundation or Noguchi Museum. I also love to recommend anything that will take you back in time, like the New York Transit Museum.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE NYC STORES AND WHY?
I’ve always felt that the best spaces are the ones with the best edited and most unexpected collections. That’s my mindset when I curate my stores. For clothing, I love Front Street General, C’H’C’M’ and Dave’s New York. When it comes to interiors, there is nothing more inspiring than John Derian Company and ESPASSO.

WHAT MUSIC ARE YOU LISTENING TO THESE DAYS? WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE MUSICIANS?
I grew up on New Wave—Depeche Mode, New Order, Grace Jones. I also love The National, Tame Impala, and lately have had Loyle Carner on repeat.

WHAT ALBUM OR SONG WOULD YOU CONSIDER YOUR PERSONAL SOUNDTRACK TO NYC?
Substance by New Order.

WHEN YOU THINK OF NYC, ARE THERE ANY PARTICULAR EMOTIONS OR MEMORIES THAT IMMEDIATELY COME TO MIND? 
Some of the biggest moments of my life have happened here, both personal and professional. NYC lets you live out your dreams. It makes me feel love, vitality and happiness.
