MARY KATE STEINMILLER
Fashion Market Editor, TEEN VOGUE
Known for her eclectic style with a homespun flare, Teen Vogue Market Editor Mary Kate Steinmiller (who unsurprisingly cites blogger icon Garance Doré as her digital inspiration) took a moment to sit down with GrandLife.com to give us a little insight into what makes her tick in the city we love.
IF YOU COULD CHOOSE ONE PERSON TO SHOW YOU “THEIR NEW YORK CITY”, WHO WOULD IT BE? [Legendary fashion photographer] Bill Cunningham, preferably next to him on a bike, all over the city during the day and to all the party dress events at night.
WHAT OR WHO HAS INSPIRED YOU RECENTLY, AND WHY? My 94 year old grandma, “Lovey”. I was recently at a party with her, out of all the guests present she was the only one that had a crowd surrounding her the entire night.
WHAT CAN’T YOU TRAVEL WITHOUT AND WHY? Converse sneakers. You can wear them with absolutely anything from denim cut-offs to the beach or a sundress. You can walk forever in them and when I travel I love walking endlessly in the city im in.
WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE TRAVEL DESTINATION? I don’t have one yet only because there are so many places I haven’t been and long to go and know each new location will be my new favorite. It doesn’t take much more than a beach, a beautiful hotel with all white rooms and sunshine though.
WHAT WOULD THE TITLE OF YOUR AUTOBIOGRAPHY BE? “Candy for Breakfast”
