Jakob F.S. & Vibe Dabelsteen

Jakob and Vibe are the founders of Vs. Magazine, one of GrandLife's favorite publications. "Above all, we love cinema," the pair told us. "But when we don’t watch or discuss movies, work with actresses, photographers & directors on shoots in NYC or LA, we like traveling to southern Europe, hanging out in the West Village and enjoying good food & good wine any place any time." Computers – no better place to work than 30,000 feet up.

Woody Allen – we like enthusiastic people.

Who has inspired you recently?
Debbie Harry playing sidewalk chanteuse in the 1978 film “The Foreigner” – because of her mysterious character with a sexy foreign accent. We recently shot with Zoe Kravitz for Vs. Magazine apart from being one of the most beautiful women we ever met, she’s got the most amazing & inspiring personality.

Orient Express in the West Village, Apotheke, Employee’s Only, and Macao Trading Co. in Tribeca for their drink “Bashful Maiden.”

The area around our offices in Chelsea – we love Dillon Gallery. We don’t have one favorite artist, but we love the work of contemporary artists Alex Prager, Olafur Eliasson and the FriendsWithYou art collective that we featured in the latest issue of Vs. Magazine. We’re also big fans of some of the classics like Emil Nolde, Chagall, and Rodin.

What are some of your favorite late-night hangouts in NYC?
Paul’s Cocktail Lounge – great atmospheres.

What’s an under the radar must-do recommendation for NYC visitors?
Nitehawk Cinema in Williamsburg – film, food, and drinks all in one, and their curated movie trailer compilations are fantastic!

Whole Foods for culinary inspiration, Little Marc Jacobs in the West Village for amazing oversized teddy bears, INA for good vintage buys, and Bottega Veneta on Fifth Avenue – one of our favorite designers we work with.

What are you listening to these days, and who are some of your favorite musicians?
Dusty Springfield’s “The Windmills Of Your Mind” – other favorites are PJ Harvey, Adele, Velvet Underground, Lana del Rey and various artists from our favorite film soundtracks.
