There are bars, and then there are cocktail bars – the refined establishment where drinks are an art, where “mixology” doesn’t just seem like a buzzword, and where carefully curated drinks are prepared and served with dignity. Ward III is firmly in the latter category, though without the contrivances that mark so many of the “speakeasy” style bars that surfaced from the last decades crafted cocktail craze. Ward III is genuine – the man behind the bar cares about what he’s doing, and if you leave your libations to him, you’ll be in good hands. The music is great, and not too loud, allowing you to easily carry on a conversation, and the small selection of bar snacks are surprisingly good – particularly the pulled duck sliders.
