A welcome change to the ever-bustling East Village, Tuome is the perfect date night spot you’ve been looking for: the décor is minimal yet cozy, the lighting is dark and sexy, and the plates are designed to be shared. Chef Thomas Chen, the young mastermind behind Eleven Madison Park who opened Tuome in 2014, creates playful dishes with American-Asian influences.
One of the most popular dishes, The Pig Out for Two, features artfully plated slices of Berkshire pork served with spicy peanut noodles and house-made condiments, a fiery lime sambal and a ginger scallion sauce. For the fickle-minded, Tuome offers a 3-course tasting menu, including dishes like Snow Crab Noodles with Dashi Butter and a Waygu Beef Tartare with Three Hour Yolk.
Another reason why we love this hidden gem? They have a happy hour daily from 6-7pm, serving up cocktails like the Blushing Dragon Sangria (rosé, pomegranate, spearmint) alongside snacks like Fried Rice in Duck Fat. If you need us, we’ll be at the bar.
