An East Village institution since 1993, Tokio 7 is proof that secondhand doesn’t have to mean second-best. And with their new digs (just on the other side of 7th Street), New York’s country club of consignment shops is now spacious and sparkling. Racks glitter with gently-used designer apparel from Japanese labels like Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto to industry standard-bearers like Prada, Chanel, Gucci, and Dolce & Gabbana. Dressy blouses, casual tees and button downs, dress pants, dress tops are also aplenty, baring labels like Dries Van Noten, DVF, Elizabeth and James, Marc Jacobs, Rogan, Chloe, Helmut Lang, Theory and Zac Posen. And the shoe alcove is a well-curated palace of pairs. Tokio 7 has truly elevated their shopping experience, yet the prices are still major reductions from the originals. It’s like a pint of Ben and Jerry’s at Pinkberry calories. And to that we leave you to indulge.
