“Nothing is perfect, it’s all a little crooked,” owner Matt Abramcyk (Beatrice Inn, Bunker Club) told T Magazine of Tiny’s and the Bar Upstairs; his antidote to hard city living. The theme and décor here reflect his love of American industrial design after World War II: the salmon-colored metropolitan haven features exposed brick walls, pressed tin ceilings, vintage wall trimmings, fireplace, and a bar befitted in aged copper. Such astute attention to detail pours also into the intricately carved wooden menus and mismatched china place settings. For lunch, the pickled beet and blue cheese Tiny’s Burger that’s topped with a fried egg is a must. The smoked Turkey breast sandwich with swiss cheese and frisee follows close behind. A warm bowl of the Sweet Potato and Apple Soup with brioche croutons and maple cream, the cool kick of a Dark and Story to drink contrasts beautifully. And don’t forget dessert –the peanut butter and banana cake topped with a fluffed marshmallow frosting has us tossing in our linen napkins in surrender every time.
