Equal parts Kate Middleton and Michelle Williams, Brooklyn’s Roebling Tea Room is steeped in both royal and indie charms. A comforting décor featuring wainscotting, cozy booths, mason jars and hunting-motif wallpaper suggest a New England austerity with hints of homespun Southern twee. Winners on the menu include the Ricotta & Fig dish for brunch, Smoked Salmon with Pumpernickel and Beet Relish for lunch and the Steak Tartar entrée at dinner. Especially when washed down with a cocktail rivaling that of a Death & Co. creation: Their “Swamp Thing” is described as “A lot of mixed herbs and gin plus a secret.” Oh, and did we mention that they have a fantastic tea list? Now they’re just gilding the lily.
