Raw food doesn’t have the most exciting reputation, but Pure Food and Wine challenges that with vivacious dishes that leave you feeling light and ready to conquer the world. Everything here is made from organically grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs, while the kitchen has no ovens, range hoods, or gas. Your meal is prepared in a blender or dehydrators, and nothing edible is heated to more than 118 degrees. Chow down on Kelp Noodle Pad Thai, Sweet Corn and Cashew Tamales, or the Tomato and Zucchini Lasagne. If the season calls for it, al fresco dining in the spacious garden is like the upscale version of your suburban childhood backyard, minus the tire swing. With a pitcher of sangria, made with biodynamic wine, the world is simply a better place. And for dessert, the salted caramel chocolate tart seals the deal: maybe Gwyneth Paltrow was right about this macrobiotic thing all along.
