A former piano shop-turned-Lower East Side performance space with a Parisian-style protocol, Pianos is the type of space to host skyrocketing indie groups like Cold War Kids, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah or Passion Pit. A mixed crowd can always be counted upon, which gives Pianos its carefree and lively vibe. The bar menu cranks out its own fair share of hits: the Red Wine Burger encrusted in black pepper, with caramelized onions and bacon, mozzarella sticks with a roasted basil tomato dip, and the Grand Pianos Nachos: Mediterranean salsa, melted cheese, chickpeas, sour cream and guacamole. Cheap and lethal frozen margaritas and beers also pair well with 80’s nights and karaoke. Nevermind that Piano’s never bothered to remove the original sign, even though there’s no piano on premises: they’re still hitting all the right notes.
