Here at GrandLife we consider ourselves something akin to Lobster Roll aficionados. We’ve traveled the northeast, chowing down on some of the finest Homarus Americanus (science speak for our clawed friends) we could get our hands on. Every once in a while a spot pops up in NYC that aims to be top of the heap when it comes to the butter god, and we’re more than happy to toss on a bib and go to town.

This time around we were greeted by a friendly face in the McLaughlin brothers, Gavin and Callum. Both handsome dudes that we’ve known for years, Callum through his tenure with the Martignetti brothers at the late night staple – Southside. Chef Gavin of his eponymous catering company, has been known around the high end event circuit for years, providing mouth watering refreshment to the well-heeled.

We were excited when they announced that their first brick and mortar restaurant would be coming together, but our excitement could barely be matched by our hungry hungry hipposesque eating frenzy that ensued when we dropped in. The lobster roll (the main culprit of our feast) is a certified pound of lobster meat, freshly prepared, lightly mayoed, and served in a perfectly golden split top bun, accompanied of course by excellent homemade potato chips.

It wouldn’t be hard to sit here and wax poetic about all the things we tried on the menu, the crispy peppers, the daily rotation of fresh oysters, the pesto steamers, but man – just get there and try the lobster roll. You won’t be disappointed.
