Although sitting slightly out of the confines of SoHo and Tribeca, Dover Street Market New York (DSMNY) is well worth the commute.
The innovative retail space – launched in 2013 by the founder of Commes Des Garçon, Rei Kawakubo – is the destination when it comes to the crème de la crème of established and emerging designer talent.
This fashion-lovers playground houses sought-after threads and accessories in a nondescript building that was formerly used as a school for artists and architects. Sprawling over 22,000 square feet, each brand is given the rights to adorn and decorate their own areas in whatever way they see fit. The result is an eclectic and vibrant shopping experience spread across seven levels of mezzanines, corners and an abundance of crafted nooks and crannies.
Over the weekend the retailer held their bi-annual ‘New Beginning’ changeover, whereby doors close for several days as designers descend upon the store to reimagine their spaces, and to introduce their latest merchandise.
Drop into the store to be some of the first to get your hands on new collections from Adidas, Common Projects, Undercover, Thom Browne, Jil Sander, Valentino, J.W. Anderson, Sacai, Rick Owens, Raf Simons and more.
