When the weather calls for al fresco dining, savvy New Yorkers head to Bar Pitti. This West Village trattoria is THE “see and be seen” place of summer. Owner Giovanni Tognozzi backs up that reputation with out-of-this-world Tuscan fare. The chalkboard on your table (written solely in Italian) has been known to intimidate monolinguals, but don’t fret. Your waiter will guide you through it… with impeccable gusto nonetheless. We highly recommend tasty staples such as veal meatballs and grilled chicken with lemon and endive, pasta with summer truffles and the bruschetta if they’re in season. The wine list features all Italian bottles at reasonable prices. Risking paparazzi for pasta, celebrities like Sophie Dahl, Sofia Coppola, or Jay Z could easily be seated next to you. Indeed, Pitti really is that good.
