When asked about Sleep No More, many audience members find it difficult to put into words. We take that to be a good thing. After opening to rave reviews earlier this year, the show has been extended not just once, but twice because of popular demand, so if you haven’t gotten a chance to go you should do so as soon as possible, as the curtain will close for good on March 25th.
The British theatre troupe, Punchdrunk, has taken over a delapidated warehouse space in Chelsea and created an interior design masterpiece in the form of the fictional multi-storied McKittrick Hotel, where this drama of epic proportions takes place. A combination of reinvented Macbeth and Hitchcock’s Rebecca, Sleep No More is a choose-your-own-ending play, where the audience is within the action and chooses the next scene to watch. You can actually pick through the elements making up the set - ruffle through old letters, pull back sheets, glance in dusty mirrors – the attention to detail throughout the space is impeccable. Your journey is self-created, but many of those who have been to the show say that the best choice is to pick a character and follow them throughout the duration of the play. You will have two hours. Enjoy. For tickets and additional info, click here.
