Join Us at The Django for an Evening of Blues, Soul and R&B!
For our first show for this evening we have the highly acclaimed John The Martyr! Born at the crossroads of good old-fashioned Harlem soul and next generation New Orleans voodoo, their music itself stirs up R&B, blues, rock, and soul into a simmering stew that brings back the spirit of Motown. The band’s story is a feeling good one where 3 best friends from New Orleans in their mid 20s met a 70 year old soul singer they found busking in the NYC subway. They funded the album by selling one of the band members' paintings and the songs were conceived in an old church basement in NYC. Next Single 'Cross The Line' will be coming out on March 21st and this will be their single release event. John The Martyr's debut full-length album will be released in Fall 2018.
The second show we take to another octave with “King” Solomon Hicks who is a 22-year old guitarist and vocalist from Harlem. At the age of 13 Solomon started playing with the Cotton Club 17-piece band as Lead Guitarist and still continues to perform there. Along with being called “Lil’ B.B.” he played the KISS Kruise V, Jazz Marciac in France, and the Tokyo Cotton Club. Solomon has taught music at the Children’s Aid Society, he is a Harlem Arts Alliance member, supporter of the NYC Jazz mobile and a member of The Blues Foundation in Memphis. His first major release on Mascot Label Group will hit the streets in late Spring 2018.First Show: $15 Click here for tickets.
