Pianist/Composer/Dancer/Playwright Joel Wenhardt moved to New York in 2015, As a student at the Juilliard School, he has learned from master musicians including Ron Carter, Kenny Barron, and Wynton Marsalis, who have nurtured Joel's unique concept of practicing and performing in the 21st century. Wenhardt can be frequently be seen and heard at the late night jam sessions in NYC such as Smalls and Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola. He plays regularly with a few different groups including Michael Mwenso and the Shakes and Evan Sherman’s Big Band with whom Joel co-wrote and co-produced a “Transgenre” piece of Jazz-Theater which was premiered at the 2016 Caramoor Jazz Festival. The play, entitled "A Story of Patience” has been described as an ambitious mix of music, comedy, drama and dance. Meanwhile, Joel has continues to develop another extension of himself called Joella. She and her band, the New Millennials, are committed to presenting an unforgettable and entertaining "Transgenre" experience!
