After you’ve had your fix of sale shopping & gallery hopping this weekend, settle down to a lunch at Barolo. Their hidden outdoor area is an idyllic garden oasis, and special reprieve from the craziness of the hustling city buzz that surrounds. Named after the wine region in Northern Italy, this restaurant does indeed have an impressive menu of offerings from that glorious part of the world. Dine on nice large portions of Risotto, Polenta, Tagliolini with White Truffle, Bollito and Carpaccio, and sip on a crisp Sancerre. You won’t be disappointed.
The Mulberry Project is the ultimate in intimate, secret drinking spots. With a capacity of about 60 people, the unmarked den in Little Italy has a beautifully curated cocktail menu that is nicely realized by mixologist Jeremy Strawn or his colleagues, who shake up the perfect concoction to suit your tastebud’s needs. Our favorites include the Raspberry Rose – JGin, Fresh Homemade Raspberry Syrup, Rose Water, Lemon & Soda and the Pin Up – Jasmine Infused Pisco, Plum Wine, Bitters and topped with Champagne. Located at 149 Mulberry St (nr. Grand St), GrandLife highly recommends a adding this to your weekend Itinerary.
Sample sale fever continues with this week’s hot picks including IF Boutique (markdowns on Comme des Garçons, Junya Watanabe, Maison Martin Margiela, Dries van Noten etc), Jil Sander (downtown location at 30 Howard Street, SoHo) or contact, Net-A-Porter.com, ACNE and Helmut Lang (Thursday, May 31st to Sunday, June 3rd. Chelsea Market, 75 Ninth Ave). ACNE and Helmut Lang were frenzied and are now looking rather sparse, but with such good discounts on offer, and being that they’re THE gods of wardrobe staples, it’s worth a look.
