For the second season in a row, fashion blogger Jayne Min of STOP IT RIGHT NOW teamed up with GrandLife to report from the front lines of fashion, headquartered in the comforts of Tribeca Grand. After a freezing week of shows, parties, dinners, and gluten-free cardamom cupcakes, and more, here are her highlights of the F/W 2014 collections:
I think it best to wrap up my Fashion Week coverage by first reporting I did in fact have a #glutenfreecardamomcake (new hashtag alert) every night of my stay at Tribeca Grand. You know, a full circle sort of thing.
So, back to the shows! I started off reporting backstage at Richard Chai my first morning and ended with the newly renamed Theory show on my last day before heading back to the warmth of California. Highlights for me were the Creatures of Comfort show, which gave me all the color combo inspiration I need for next Fall, as well as the Tibi show which was so wearable in an accessible way (the best way).
Despite the snow, the photographers braved the cold to capture the best of street style. February’s fashion week doesn’t leave much for footwear options (I call it a godsend), so it becomes the battle of the outerwear. Furs, wools, cocoons, colorblocking, you name it. My personal favorites were Caroline de Maigret which her casual French ease, and Annina Mislin with well, her cool, California ease.
For a hermit like me, the snow offered the perfect (this time, valid) excuse to stay indoors and enjoy my favorite room-service-in-bathrobe time. Er, I mean catching up on work and show reviews. After all, if it’s 18 degrees outside, why not enjoy the runway from the comfort of your toasty, plush bed. Amiright or amiright?
