Many of these bands will be playing several shows over the five days that CMJ runs (10/16-10/20), so click on their name to check their website for listings. You can also view the CMJ website here.

Sky Ferreira: A familiar face in the Grand Life Hotels world, Sky has graced us with her presence at several of our recent events so we can’t wait to see her perform live. Her music is just as lovely as she is and ranges from 80’s tinged dance tracks to swooning ballads. Catch her on stage this week to hear her latest single, “Everything Is Embarrassing” co-produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes. Her EP Ghost, will be released on October 2nd.

Poolside: The L.A. based duo makes the most delightful disco-pop tunes that would sound amazing, well, poolside. Since it’s halfway through October, which means it’s already cold here in New York, go check them out and give yourself a mid-week fantasy trip to a daytime pool party in California. Poolside released their cleverly titled LP, Pacific Standard Time earlier this year – right around the time we had them play a rocking show at The Tribeca Grand.

Savoir Adore: Paul Hammer and Deidre Muro are Savoir Adore and make pop music done in a thoughtfully dreamy manner with a nod to the sounds of indie-electro-pop champions Phoenix. Their new album Our Nature was recorded in upstate New York and will be released on 10/16, just in time for their big CMJ push. Check out the album’s first single “Dreamers”, which fits right into their self-coined “fantasy rock” sound.

Maria Minerva: A sound that is hard to nail down is usually a good one. Already well-received in Europe, the Estonian musician made her first U.S. appearance this past April in Brooklyn. Minerva’s droning voice is supported by her beautiful and creepy psych-rock sound, which was first heard on her Tallinn At Dawn release in 2011. This year she released Will Happiness Find Me, which features the standout track, “Fire”.

Kilo Kish: Although she received accolades from Complex Magazine for her Homeschool EP, the world knows Kish almost exclusively through her recently released jazzy hip hop single “Navy”. If this track is any indication of what’s to come, we are all ears. Check out her self-directed music video for the song, which gives you a peek into her charming downtown party-all-night world. Her past performances have brought out fans such as Mos Def, Theophilus London, and Lena Dunham – just to name a few.
